Birdsongs awaken memories

The cardinals’ song speaks to me

Do you remember summer days?

You called the day in your plea

The bright sun fought the leaves’ maze

My childhood summer mornings

Promised joy and a comforting warmth

These memories call to me imploring

Always remember henceforth.
