Reconsidering life’s adventures,
Memories of celebrations and defeats flood me.
The regrets cloud my acclaims.
Too many times I was Atlas.
My joys are abundant.
The weight of my awards will always tip the scales.
This retrospective gives a balance to life’s details.
Time passes and our future approaches in an instant.
What is left may be obsolete or vintage.
Our purpose is created on rituals and habits.
Will the niche you leave have balance?
Magnanimous movements are memorialized.
Will yours be illustrious or notorious?
A heavy load is carried
The burden drags
A scarlet letter glows on your conscience
Can it be erased?
Will you run again?
Who can remove the boulders?
It is a lonely journey
It requires strength from within; self forgiveness is the antidote.
Assume you’re correct and know better.
Will the sun rise tomorrow?
Will a landfall promise your happiness?
If we theorize, do we truly try?
Let us not assume
Determine and discover your deeds.
Vanish and fade away
My enemy seduced anger
I won’t tolerate it as an anchor
I won’t concede it to its delay
My strength transformed into its strangler
I’ll shove it through a doorway
The foe better make way
My championship day is my new holiday.
Make it stronger
Effortless [and] universal
Olympian skills as precise
[as] a sprinkle of gold
Be someone new
Incredible, in that moment
Don’t toss the sticky situation
Love the source of endless
I am teaching my students about poetry. This week is found poems. I really like them; this is my example to show them using a magazine.
Cure our conceit
At times an ineptness exudes smugness
Seek outwardly for acceptance
Make your contagion breed gracefully.
Colors so allure
Spring’s abrupt explosion
Was not premature
That look; it calms the hostile
It can be an epidemic
Its overpowering pull beguiles
You cannot combat it
