Why is awe so hard to encounter?
Miraculous gifts are showered upon us.
Instead we stoke anger, hatred, and revenge.
We should welcome joy and beauty.
At times the dreadfulness shows us to the path of goodness.
It should not take a lifetime to wonder over our rewards.

Many great lines in your poem! All the negative actions that you mention stem from hurt? Great message with with a question that may be answered in many different ways. I think there are many people who ask the same question as you. Nice that you put this one out there to be read. Food for thought.
