Why is awe so hard to encounter?
Miraculous gifts are showered upon us.
Instead we stoke anger, hatred, and revenge.
We should welcome joy and beauty.
At times the dreadfulness shows us to the path of goodness.
It should not take a lifetime to wonder over our rewards.
On the ritual of morning runs
The noises of nature are notable
Bird songs beckon me
Whispering winds chill my ears
The tantrum of rushing spring
Through overflowing rivulets announcing winter’s end
My short, daily solitude can be accompanied by nature once again.
The lavender curtains drape the floor.
Golden tassels hug them more.
After they are drawn, the picturesque countryside enfolds.
Beams of sunlight paint the morning sky colors bold.
Royalty bestows lavish gifts to its heir.
My inheritance is merely my talents imparted to me.
I award them to my child for care.
Refinements to her endowments is her decree.
Carry our honors to our lineage to be.
Memories disappear into clouded spaces.
Faint and nebulous, yet wanted.
The growing vagueness puzzles me.
Can the dimness be reignited?
We’ve fasted from the warmth too long.
Now is the feast of sun and breeze.
I want to gorge on the cardinals’ song.
This day is one to seize.
Misjudgments are destroying integrity
Almost daily are we disgraced
Let justice collapse on the bench
Lead these foes back to the virtuous paths
Eliminate the hate that destroys
Today we can end the epidemic
